The following TOTAL MAGNETIC FIELD CONTOUR MAP shows the horizontal variation of the total intensity of the magnetic field and, therefore, the areal extent of anomalies. This color map shows only the magnetic highs (as red-purple-violet bullseye targets) and lows (as green-cyan-blue patches).

Magnetic surveys can only detect ferrous metal objects and cannot be used to identify the buried objects.

Press Release: Results of the Ground Magnetic Survey on Redford Property

Vancouver, BC, April 22, 2009 - Logan Resources Ltd. (TSXV:LGR) (the "Company) is pleased to announce the results of the ground magnetic survey on its Redford Property carried out by Orequest Consultants Ltd. in March, 2010. The survey totaled 5.5 km and was carried out with two GEM GSM-19 magnetometers.

The purpose of the survey was to detail the magnetic high associated with the former Noranda, Brynnor Iron Mine. The Brynnor Mine is located approximately 15 km northeast from Ucluelet, B.C.

The survey outlined a magnetic body interpreted to be 400 metres long and up to 110 metres wide. A broad magnetic high is present from the edge of the now flooded Brynnor open-pit, to the limit of the survey. The amplitude of the high varies from 5,500nT to 9,000nT. At line 450E the amplitude of the high diminishes to 2500nT to indicate the end of the anomaly at or near line 450E. Steep, inaccessible terrain on the side of Mount Redford prevents extending the coverage to the east beyond L450E.

When the results are modeled to characterize the cause of the anomaly using induced magnetism with the current magnetic field (I = 70°N and D = 17°E), the following results are obtained. The modeling was done with Geosoft Magpoly V2.21.

These results compare favorably with regard to the width and depth of the known deposit.

Qualitatively, east of the creek on L0 to Ll50E, where most of the drilling and underground development has taken place, the anomalies (in profile) are similar but fall in amplitude from 8,500nT on L0E to 6,000nT on L150E.

From L200E to the eastern limit of the survey, the symmetry of the anomalies changes such that the dip of the model gradually changes to the north and at the same time the amplitude increases to 9,000nT on L300E and L350E, the highest recorded.

In geophysical surveys, it is the top of the target closest to the instrument sensor that produces the majority of the signal and is best resolved. There is no evidence of the bottom of the magnetic body in this case so it would appear to have an appreciable depth extent.

Logan drilled four holes in 2008 to test the east side of the deposit. These holes hit a shallow north-dipping magnetite horizon, that is in part, consistent with the interpreted magnetic body. The remnant model has a dip of 20°N consistent with the drilling.

Kobe Steel Ltd., Japan’s fourth- largest mill, may team up with trading companies and a state exploration agency to develop mines as rising costs for steelmaking ingredients squeeze margins, an executive said.

We intend to add green-field exploration to our options in increasing self-sufficiency in iron ore, said Michihide Iwasa, who was appointed officer in charge of raw material and purchasing today. The most desirable destination is Australia, but we won’t be limited to that region.

Steelmakers including Nippon Steel Corp. and South Korea’s Posco are pursuing mine investments as the global economy recovers and demand increases from China, which accounts for half the world’s steel output. Vale SA, the world’s largest iron ore producer, and BHP Billiton Ltd. this week ended a 40-year system of setting annual prices with Asian mills by signing price increases on shorter contracts.

We are facing a period of a radical change in the environment surrounding raw materials for making steel, Iwasa, 53, told reporters on March 17 on condition his comments weren’t published till today. We’ll have to go upstream to cut costs and secure raw materials.

How long this rally in spot prices of iron ore last

The surge in spot prices of Indian iron ore fines is continuing and the CFR prices for 63.5%/63% are reported to have crossed USD 180 per tonne. As a result, FOB India levels have surged by about 15% in last 15 days especially for higher grades.

Market players are totally puzzled and do not understand what is happening, why its is happening and how long it would last. They are highly concerned over the future and sustainability of such levels. It is clear that the surge in iron ore prices is propelled by speculators as the quantum of steel prices hike in Chinese domestic market does not justify so much increase in iron ore import prices.

But the indications are that if this rally continues for some more time, we shall be seeing USD 200 per tonne CFR China for 63.5%/63% soon, especially for prompt shipments as buyers are afraid to take long positions due to looming uncertainties.

POSCO to spend USD 5 billion to secure raw material supplies

Bloomberg reported that Asia’s third biggest steelmaker PSOCO plans to invest about USD 5 billion on overseas mines, joining rival mills scouring the globe for supplies as raw material costs jumped.

Mr Choi Doo Jin a spokesman said that the South Korean steelmaker wants to boost its self sufficiency rate for raw materials to 70% from about 18% confirming remarks by Mr Chung Joon Yang CEO of POSCO in a Korea Economic Daily report. Mr Choi said that the expenditure is for the long term without giving details.

Mr Chung told shareholders that he will pursue investments in overseas mines more aggressively to secure iron ore and coal. He agreed to buy as much as a 15% stake in the Roy Hill iron ore project in Australia this year.

Brynnor Mine

The Brynnor Iron mine occurs in the center of the Redford property in the floor of Draw Creek valley (Figure 5). Noranda produced 3,011,306,260 kilograms of iron concentrate at a concentrate grade of 63.8% iron from 4.48 million tonnes of magnetite ore mined from 1962 – 1968 (James, 1968). A deeper magnetite deposit was developed for production, but was never mined. A mill and deep water shipping dock was located on Toquart Bay.

The Brynnor ore is fine grained, massive magnetite and magnetite-bearing skarn in Triassic Quatsino Formation marble and overlying tuff and argillite of the Jurassic Bonanza or Parsons Bay Formations. Seven lenses and bands of magnetite and skarn are reported in marble contacts. The marble – sediment contact and magnetite deposits take the form of a NNE-trending flat, plunging anticline with steep limbs. The Brynnor ore bodies lie near the SSW end of the anticline. The rocks and the deposits are in a roof pendent 1 km wide and 3.5 km long engulfed by granitoid intrusives (Sangster, 1969).

The strata are intruded by bodies and dykes of amygdaloidal to porphyritic andesite to diorite. The mine strata and intrusive andesite – diorite are surrounded and intruded by multiphase granitoid intrusives described as diorite, quartz diorite and granodiorite. In the open pit, feldspar porphyry and leucodiorite dykes up to 10 meters wide cut the magnetite and show chilled contacts against skarn. Neither skarn nor magnetite is developed in them (Sangster, 1969). Quartz monzonite occurs locally in the area of the mine and two such dykes cut the deposit.

Alteration in the marbles, tuffs and sediments includes skarn composed principally of garnet and epidote and prehnite alteration affected various intrusive rocks. The pre-ore andesite-diorite is partly altered to magnetite, skarn, serpentinites, epidote, prehnite and pyrrhotite (Sangster, 1969).

Only minor pyrite or pyrrhotite occurs in the mine. Small pockets of chalcopyrite were encountered locally in both andesite and skarn. Trace arsenopyrite was also noted.

Brittle faults of various attitudes marked by gouge and breccia cut the deposit. The most significant fault offsets the underground deposit and down-throws the southeast block by 60 meters.

Some quartz veins in the northwest pit wall contain gold in the tenths of an ounce (Walker, 1997).

De Jong announces Maa-nulth land transfers

Provincial Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Minister Mike de Jong has announced that six parcels of provincial Crown land will be transferred immediately to the five Maa-nulth Nations, as part of the Final Agreement signed Thursday.

All told, the five Barkley Sound Nations will receive 24,550 hectares of land, some of which is former Indian Reserve land and some former Crown land. de Jong's announcement came as a surprise to most of the guests who packed Alberni Athletic Hall.

"As a province, we would like to begin transferring the land now," de Jong said. And following the signing of the Final Agreement by federal Indian Affairs Minister Chuck Strahl and the five Maa-nulth chief councillors, de Jong sat down to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with each of the individual leaders.

Under the MOU, Huu-ay-aht First Nation will take early transfer of a 31.5-hectare waterfront parcel on the north shore of Grappler Inlet. The former Crown land is adjacent to Bamfield. Toquaht Nation will receive a 19-hectare parcel at Stuart Bay near the entrance to Ucluelet Harbour, while Uchucklesaht Tribe will receive approximately 55 hectares at Green Cove and Limestone Bay. This waterfront parcel sits at the entrance to Uchucklesit Inlet and is the site of a store owned and operated by Uchucklesaht.

Ucluelet First Nation will receive early transfer of Lot 468, a 34-hectare parcel adjacent to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The land has been identified as key to Ucluelet First Nation's economic development plans.

Kyuquot-Checklesaht First Nation will receive 1.8 hectares located at Fair Harbour, and a 35-hectare parcel on Amos Island, near the First Nation community of Houpsitas. They currently lease the Fair Harbour property as part of its marina operation.

Following the ceremonies, de Jong said the Maa-nulth process has been an education for himself and his Liberal colleagues, including Premier Gordon Campbell. He acknowledged that his government was perceived with mistrust by many First Nations people.

"It's been a journey, and as you learn - as you engage, and as you speak with and better understand some of the challenges and some of the history, you better appreciate where some of the opportunities lie - and how you can move forward," de Jong said. "When we talk about the New Relationship, it's clear from this and numerous other agreements that it is more than just talk - it is reality. It's a different way of recognizing that we're all here to stay and we're far better off in working together to share the benefits that we're blessed with here in B.C."
